Arthur W. Hartopp (fl. 1900s) was a professional illusionist who performned under the names Amasis the Egyptian Magician (1909-25), Li Sing Foo(1919 authorized by Chung Ling Soo ), Ben Said the Egyptian Funjurer (1922-34), and Prof. Johnny Hottoff.
Biography
One of his first noted performances was at the London Margate Hippodrome in 1909 as “Amasis the Egyptian Mystic". His scenery was decorated in an Egyptian style. [1]
He was described as a "colored magician" in the 1910 issue of The Magic Mirror when he was appearing in London as Amasis.[2][3]
