Doc Brumfield was a collector, publisher, dealer, manufacturer and owner of the Welworth Co. in Indianapolis.
Brumfield was a member of SAM, IBM, and IMC[1]
Shortly after the death of his friend John Northern Hilliard, Brumfield contacted his daughter requesting a small unpublished work used as advertising and press releases at Thurston shows. She sent it to him which consisted of history of the old-time magicians. Incidentally, Thurston had suggested that Brumfield be appointed editor of Hilliard's unfinished "Greater Magic" manuscript. But when Carl W. Jones found out about Brumfield intention of publishing this "small book", he objected at that time on the grounds that it would interfere with the sale of the forthcoming "Greater Magic." Brumfield died without bringing out his "small book", but part was later published in the Conjurers' Magazine as "Thurston—Last of Many Magicians" by John Northern Hilliard. [2]
